Digital Circular Economy Solutions Conference Unlocking Product information exchange ecosystems using Digital Product Passports
8th May 2025
09:00 to 17:00
Today product information is shared mainly for sales purposes when a product is sold, with sharing between manufacturers, retailers and other sales entities. Digital Product Passports (DPPs) will provide a key tool to transform and provide product information sharing between manufacturers, other economic operators, and consumers, across supply chains and the product life cycle, for sustainability, circular economy, and economic efficiency purposes.
The event will focus on how the sharing of product information can be transformed in the future, enable automation to reduce costs of manual data sharing, provide data access to other economic operators, and enable significant sustainability and circularity use cases using DPPs benefitting the economy. Use cases will be presented across different sectors including consumer electronics, construction and textiles, among others. The event provides a vision of the future of data sharing ecosystems using DPPs.
The event supports brands, manufacturing companies, and economic operators to understand the future needs and product information potential for sustainability and circularity, software service providers active in product information management on the transforming landscape.
Digital Product Passports are digital identity cards for products, components and materials, officially registered with a government authority, that stores relevant information to support a product’s sustainability, promote their circularity characteristics, and strengthen legal compliance. DPPs will be mandated in the future to place products on the EU market under the EU Ecodesign for Sustainable Products regulation (ESPR).
The transformation of data sharing is possible thanks to DPPs capabilities. Key aspects include automated data exchange as required in the EU ESPR legislation, product item level traceability to gather and exchange per product specific data, material and components data management in DPPs, and the setup of wider data ecosystems that brings together manufacturers, suppliers and other economic operators active in managing product information.
