Deliverable 3.3: Product Circular Design Decisions Framework overview and Technical Description

This is a pre-publication of this CircThread project deliverable. The deliverable is still pending formal review and acceptance by the EU project officers active in the H2020 CircThread project.

The work of this deliverable is based on the existing background tool VESPER. The aim of VESPER is to provide multi-criteria trade-off analysis for product design using computer guided product alternatives scenario generation, so as to enable analysis of different circular economy design improvements also on other sustainability domains and manufacturing implications. VESPER (AAR) is a visual analytics-based tool for exploration of similarity and performance metrics in computer-aided design (CAD) repositories. In this task, the data schema used in VESPER will be extended towards computing product component design alternatives that extend product lifespan and make products easier to disassemble. The task also developed novel Design for Disassembly methodology that, together with VESPER, aid selection and/or generation of more circular & sustainable alternatives from repositories.
